Borrego Springs, California

   After staying at the Saguaro Escapees RV Park at Benson, AZ for a couple days, I headed west about the 5th of November, stopping for a day (night) at Davis-Monthan AFB Commissary to re-stock the pantry.  I then continued westward into California, finally stopping at the largest state park in the country, the Anza Borrego Desert State Park.  It's about 600,000 acres in area, measuring about 50 miles by 20 miles.  Outside the town of Borrego Springs I met up with fellow boondockers, and thus far, have been here for a month with no hookups - no electricity, no water (aside from what is carried in my 70 gallon fresh water tank), no sewer hookups - and no problems!

   The weekend after Thanksgiving Day, people and their various rigs started pulling away.  We'll miss them, but the rest of us, about 12 rigs all told, plan to remain here for another couple weeks, enjoying the peace and quiet of this area until we "have to" relocate to near I-8, exit 159, Ogilby Road in eastern California very near to Yuma, AZ where we plan to remain through New Year's.

   Looking forward to Ogilby Road, the New Year, and a full year's measure of health and happiness for you.

 Later:  while sitting around the nightly campfire, we made friends with a cute little beggar - our very own little Kangaroo Rat:

He quickly gained the nickname of "Toby", and he'd come each night for treats, scurrying about our boots as we sat around the fire, and if the treat were held high enough, he'd jump and jump for it until he gained a handhold (pawhold??), then he'd nibble a bit off, drop down and run off to hide it in his favorite burrow, then dash back for more.  What great entertainment!
